Life In America
Ambrose Michael Goss, my maternal grandfather, was born in Lawler, Iowa on April 5, 1889 to parents William Patrick Goss and Mary Heyberger. Here he met and married a woman named Florence Ann Canty and started the Goss bloodline on my side of the family. Florence was born in Lawler, Iowa on April 6 1894 and spent her life raising their children and teaching school. She also was a postmistress. Ambrose spent most of his life as a farmer and together, with Florence, had four children: two boys named Eugene Ambrose and Joseph John, and two girls named Madonna Rose and Margaret Mary.
