Life In America

        Madonna Rose Goss, my mother, was born in Lawler, Iowa on February 25, 1918 to parents Ambrose Michael Goss and Florence Ann Canty. In his travels she met and married a man named George Henry Guenther, my father, and started the Guenther bloodline. George was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 23, 1921 and was a data processing manager for a ceramic tile company. George and Madonna met during World War II in the South Pacific (kind of like the movie). He was a Warrant Officer in the Army and she was a third class petty officer in the Navy. Shortly after World War II ended Madonna and George were married in Lawler, Iowa the birthplace of my maternal grandmother. My father and mother had four children: three boys named George Henry Jr., Charles Joseph, and of course me, Michael William, and one girl named Linda Anne.
