Their Journey To America
Owen Canty (son of Thomas Canty) was born in Ireland, although the exact date and place is unknown. He migrated to America somewhere between 1848 and 1860 where he married Ellen Stanton (daughter of Edmund Stanton). They first lived in Syracuse, New York where they had their first child, Margaret, in 1861. Sometime afterwards they moved to Wisconsin where Eleanor was born in 1868 and finally resided in Lawler, Iowa the birthplace of their last daughter Catherine, born in 1870. There is no information about their two sons, Edward and Eugene, other than where they passed away. Only marriage and death information is available on their fourth daughter Mary.
