Their Journey To America
Thomas Canty was born in Ireland, exact place and date are unknown, and was a well to do farmer. Due to his extravagance during the famine of 1848, he became impoverished and the family soon scattered. Thomas had two known sons named Jerimiah and Owen and one known daughter named Nora. Ironically all three Canty children had married three children from the Stanton family. Although all three known children had moved to America, Thomas Canty spent his remaining days in Ireland. No information is known about his wife.
