James Patrick Goss was born in County Queens, Ireland in 1811. There is no history on when James moved to America but it is believed he immigrated sometime between 1830 and 1850. It is believed he met his wife, Mary Plunkett, in America and were married in Sandusky, Ohio during 1853. They had ten children: three boys named William Patrick, James Mitchell, and John Thomas; and seven girls named Mary, Sarah, Katie, Liza, Margaret, Rose, and Ellen.
