Their Journey To America
Joseph Heyberger was born in Drawbach, Germany around 1828 and Catherine Schlick was born somewhere in Germany around 1839. It is believed that Joseph immigrated to America around 1846 when he was 18 years of age. Catherine moved to America with her family sometime between 1840 and 1855 and settled in Dubuque County, Iowa where she met and married Joseph in 1857. Of the five boys and two girls that Joseph and Catherine brought into this world only Mary has been identified at this time.
